Langat2 Water Treatment Plant

The Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant is a major water treatment facility located in Malaysia, specifically in the state of Selangor. It is designed to address the growing water needs of the Klang Valley region, which includes Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding areas. It involves the construction of water treatment and distribution facilities to manage water transferred from the Pahang-Selangor Raw Water Transfer (PSRWT) Project, with an ultimate nominal treated water output capacity of 2260 million litres per day (Mld).

The Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant plays a critical role in ensuring a reliable and high-quality water supply for both residential and industrial users. The plant uses advanced treatment processes to convert raw water into potable water, ensuring it meets rigorous safety and quality standards. These processes typically include coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection, all of which work together to remove impurities and contaminants from the water.

The plant’s design emphasizes both capacity and efficiency. It is equipped to handle large volumes of water to meet the demands of a rapidly growing population and expanding industrial base. Additionally, the facility incorporates sustainable practices to minimize its environmental impact and optimize resource use.
The Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant is part of a broader strategy to enhance water infrastructure in Malaysia, ensuring that the Klang Valley and surrounding areas have a reliable and sustainable water supply. Its establishment represents a significant investment in the country’s water management capabilities and contributes to the overall goal of achieving long-term water security and sustainability.
