The Loji Rawatan Air (LRA) Pelubang project in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, Malaysia, is a major water treatment plant upgrade managed by Bina Darulaman Berhad (BDB). This project, costing around RM431 million, is set to be completed by 2024. The upgrade aims to significantly increase the plant’s capacity from 227 million liters per day (MLD) to 454 MLD. This enhancement will address the water supply issues in the Kedah region, particularly in Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu, ensuring a more reliable and sufficient supply of treated water.
The project involves constructing new water treatment facilities and upgrading the distribution system, including the installation of new pipelines to replace the old ones. The initiative is part of a broader effort to solve Kedah’s water problems by upgrading multiple treatment plants in the state. The completion of these projects is expected to provide long-term solutions to water demand issues, supporting the needs of the growing population and industrial activities until 2040.
